On the occasion of November 5th, the International Day of the Roma Language, in Podgorica in Cultural Center “Budo Tomović, on November 5th, the Festival of Roma Culture and Activism is being held for the first time in Montenegro. The aim of the Festival is to present Roma culture: history, language and literature, music and Roma dances. The organizers of the Festival are the Roma Cultural Center from Belgrade and P.R.A. public relations agency, and the partner of the festival in Montenegro is the Roma Council.
The Festival is one of the central events of the “Moj život/My Life” campaign, where, among others, the Roma Jazz&Soul band KAL, the official music group of the Campaign, performs.
The festival started with an Panel, expert meeting on the Romani language and the presentation of the Romology project. After that, we opened the exhibition MY LIFE, where we presented successful Roma in the world of culture, art, science, sports and politics. Poetry by Roma authors was read on the main stage of KIC, Amaro Chelipe’s new Roma folklore ensemble danced Roma dances, and at the end a concert was held by the KAL group from Belgrade.
